Sky Slides

07 Apr

( by Annette Loginova)

It smells of trees that are not beside
And of the wind that blows nowhere
A flying vision vanishes from sight
It’s just my eyes that covered up by hair.

The point of beeing
The sky is beautiful today
It needs just seeing
And there’s nothing else to say.

Mind is hanging on the breeze
Eyes are closed but they still shine
Take a look on the bright sides
And watch the change of
Sky slides.

Sometimes it seems to fall
And makes you two-foot tall
Don’t let yourself put up
The things will look up
As soon as sun wake up.

It doesn’t speak at all
The firmament’s just to show
What you want to see
And how it all could be
We’ll see

Mind is hanging on the breeze
Eyes are closed but they still shine
Take a look on the bright sides
And watch the change of
Sky slides.

A beautiful picture to go with this beautiful poem. Looking at the sky makes me feel better when I’m down. Sometimes I feel that I need to write a poem, but sometimes it’s good to just look and enjoy. 🙂

        13/04/2012 at 7:43 pm

Some, yes. Many, no. I have no idea how to write poetry, but here is something that FELT poetic to me.

I was sitting in a dog park smoking and knocked the cherry off of my cigarette. When I bent to find it, I smelled campfire, as the cherry had lit upon a small pine cone with sap on it. The smell made all of my senses ache to be back with nature, if not a return to Idaho, then the courage to explore here in the Puget Sound.

I used to sleep outdoors at least 50 nights a year, but have not slept outside in over ten years. Now it’s the sound of freeways rather than the sound of rivers.

One of my dogs ran up with a tennis ball and brought me out of my reverie. I knew then that Phillip Morris and the Marlboro Man had done the the third and final favor for me they could, but it was time to quit smoking or I may never make it back to the woods.

Guy, that really pulled up some raw angst in me, but I’m afraid to share, that it will just sound maudlin. Just trying to explain it felt like some expression that could be polished though, I suppose. Thanks for asking.

    • Guy Nickwell

      07/04/2012 at 10:36 pm

The ideas in my mind come into existence of their own accords. I need no stimulus.

I have had 1/3 of a University semester covering the basics of poetry. I appreciate it more, but I don’t see myself as having talent in writing poetry–at least not yet. With that said, I enjoyed this poem and art painting of sky slides. Nicely done. 🙂

There are several lines in this that reverberate for me:

“It smells of trees that are not beside”
“Mind is hanging on the breeze”
“And watch the change of/Sky slides.”

I enjoy the images these create for me, the scenes of possibilities. Thank you for your recent visit and like.

This is beautiful. Some of the best things in life is to just pause and enjoy the moment. Most of us forget that. We are always so focused on the problem that we fail to flip the coin around and look at the bright side of things. This is very motivational. Thanks. We took a trek on a nearby mountain this afternoon, enjoying the distant views, as well as noticing early spring wild flowers, including an orchid which we have never seen before. Upon arriving home, we both became aware of how full the dogwoods are around our field. As you say, “It needs just seeing”

Mind is hanging on the breeze
Eyes are closed but they still shine

These lines really speak to me, of what lives on inside even if others cannot see it, and our lives ebb and flow, fly or fall, around our ability to make those pieces visible. Wonderful poem.

This is especially lovely, and I enjoy the total blog experience that you’ve presented. Such a pleasing aesthetic throughout, of light, joys and life as is. A shine of sun on reality; appreciative and enlightening, thanks for sharing.

I love that there are so many people who love your poetry Guy. It is, you are inside the warp and weft; you clearly touch peoples lives. Have you published any books? You seem ready! If that’s your dream of course. Thanks for linking with my blog. I’m quite new….would you ever post your actual picture of yourself? Thanks and look forward to the second self creation.

    Guy,

The use of “beeing”, is it intentional? Like a play on the word of what it is to be a bee and exist and enjoy sunshine? If so, quite clever. I love making words nouns be verbs and such.

I like the way you carry the image of “sky slides” through to the end. Nice!
