It’s only languorous darkness around
And there isn’t any loud sound
The night is slowly falling
Into the day it’s turning.
At the height of the autumn drop
Rain is knocking on the roof top.
The death has settled in the garden flowers
Blue haze says bye arising
And it’s just tactfully surmising
That in the past that unhappy barren hours.
And whole the time is all for that
To see by sleepy eyes not day not night
To see amazing early dreams
To give the world the sleeper’s beams.

05/04/2012 at 6:03 pm
Well, take your question for example, ‘How do you think?’ There is no comma after the word, ‘how’ (nothing wrong, just interesting), therefore it could be answered, ‘I do my best thinking when the house is quiet.’ OR your question could summon the response, ‘I think you have an interesting turn of phrase because the syntax sometimes derives a duality of meaning, interpretation.’ I meant the latter. 🙂

Autumn – The Third Season. It’s when death threatens but I dance wildly through the fallen leaves because I have the secret knowledge that winter is coming; that cold, dark time of turning inward and sending my roots deep, deep, deep into the knowledge of who I am becoming.
Lovely.

09/04/2012 at 8:24 pm
Yes. This is my favorite poem (and comment) so far. I learned early on through Robert Frost that the seasons can stand for the stages of life, but usually in autumn we are darkening, while here we have the darkness falling; the promise in your interpretation is wonderful, that there is something beyond and worth exploring, and that even when days grow shorter, there is still sunlight to be had. Within, or without.
Becky Doughty
10/04/2012 at 5:16 pm
Thanks for the comments – Look what you’ve started, Guy! Isn’t that the point, though, to make us see things differently than we’ve been told to see them? To come at it from the other side of things? I’m learning that my mind and spirit are two very different entities and I either imprison my spirit (the within) with the reasoning of my mind (the without) or I can loose my mind by letting my spirit take flight. It’s like asking “What’s next, Papa?” all the time – I’m afraid to blink because I might miss that moment when the sun cracks open the horizon or the moon opens the eye of the sleeping dragon in the night sky. It’s exhausting! And exhilirating at the same time. Who needs drugs?
Maybe this is just me being suddenly in my 40’s and wondering if I’ve missed anything…. If it is, I plan on having a spectacular decade!
Keep writing, keep looking, keep flying.

Hi, i responded early – but then I realized you wanted comments; imagery and moment live within you; i would suggest as i say to my students, “take out the ings – and put in present tense,” It makes the piece more immediate; later you might consider using verbs that own the action; i.e., “langorous darkness obliterates sound,” but you are definitely on your way! thanks for posting
